Pond Sensory Bin

Just when I think we’ve done everything fun with out sensory bin, I come across another amazing website that inspires me big time!  THIS website has enriched our play for a few months now.  Lyla, you’re very interested in frogs.  You love to say “ribit ribit” and love your frog towel.  So when Dad and I went to Las Vegas for our trip, I insisted we go to Hobby Lobby to buy these amazing life cycle toys.  This one shows all the cycles of a frog’s life; from the egg to tadpole to frog (and some inbetween).  WE used some amazingly large leafs/weeds from the backyard and made this pond as real as possible.  This was one of my favorite bins so far because you got so imaginative with it.  You instantly took the frog out and started stacking leaves on top of it.  Then for about an hour we played “hide the frog” where you or I would take turns hiding the frog and the person would follow the “ribits” to find it.  I would give you clues like “look in the pond ribit ribit, under the leaf” and you’d giggle like crazy when you found it.  You also became a frog yourself and hopped while you played.  It was such great fun.
