Christmas Day 2012

“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”

- Rachel Carson

Lyla and Lottie, thank you for allowing Dad and I to rediscover the wonder of this world we live, but experiencing life right along side of you.  You’ve brought back the mystery and excitement of childhood overnight.  What a gift.  We are so grateful for you, and for the opportunity to rediscover the wonder of Christmas through your lenses. For me the whole month of December was magical.  I’ve learned that giving gifts is better than receiving, and how I enjoyed picking out your Christmas gifts.  Christmas night was full of anticipation and excitement!  Dad and I could hardly wait for you to wake up and see what awaited you.  I couldn’t wait to see the look on your face Lyla when you walked out and saw all the wonderful toys.  I also couldn’t wait to play with all the wonderful things together.  Everything I bought was to be interactive fun.   Lottie woke first as usual.  We kept her in your bedroom Lyla so she wouldn’t want to destroy at the toys until you woke you (you were sleeping in our bed).  When you finally woke up Dad and I practically ran into the room to get you.  We brought you milk into our room first to get that out of the way and we also had Lottie open her special gift from dad.  She loved her Daisy Duck.  I then I carried you Lyla into the living room.  Your face was first confused and then excited.  You said “ooohhh!”.   As I had guess, you went right for the car.  It was definitely the hit of the this Christmas.  Lottie I don’t think you knew what to think of all that stuff, so I just grabbed a few things to show you.  You really loved the Dance and Play Puppy.  It was fun to just take our time and show you everything slowly.  I enjoyed every minute of that morning.  After every toy had been discovered, we headed to Grandma’s for a breakfast feast followed by the marathon of present opening.  Grandma and Grandpa were very generous this year as always.  We got dual DVD players for the car and a shade for the backyard.  It was amazing. Lyla and Lottie, you got clothes, barbies, a dolly, and Vans from uncle Zach.  The rest of the day was wonderfully relaxing.  We went back home to play with all our goods and then just laid around the rest of the day.  It was a perfect Christmas Day
