Egg Shell Decoupage
Oh my you loved smashing up egg shells and dying them. You wanted to use a zillion drops of food coloring so the color kind of turned black but it still looked cool. We used the smashed shells to decorate an egg. It looked awesome babe.
Dying Eggs
Of course we dyed eggs again this year. Thanks to the help of a wire wisk, Charlotte joined in the fun. She LOVED smashing it into the water and watching it splash everywhere. Dad would shutter and I would laugh. LOL Lyla you got really into dying this year and worked hard and making them very pretty. We used coolaid packets this year which made them very bright. You’d say “ohhh, pretty”. We also got a glitter kit which was right up your alley. You were very proud of your eggs and showed everyone who visited.
Egg Shaped Smoothie Pops!
These were a big hit with both you gals. We made several batches!
Peeps Experiment
We’ve long enjoyed the fun of baking soda fizzling in vinegar. This was just another fun twist. Lyla has been interested in Peeps (but not to eat) so when I saw this idea I knew we had to do it. Lyla you FREAKED when you first started dumping the soda into the pan of Peeps and vinegar. It was hilarious. Even Charlotte watched it inquisitively as it fizzled the Peeps. We did this until I was completely out of supplies and left it for the next day when I went and bought more soda. Disturbingly, the Peeps stayed completely intact for the next day. We must’ve explored this experiment a zillion times over the course of a week.
Easter Snow Globe.
As always you got so excited when you saw the supplies sitting out on the table waiting for you. You loved the glitter eggs that you stuffed the jar chuck full of. You proudly shook it for everyone when they came over.
Salt Dough Ornaments
We busted out the ole salt dough recipe to make some eggs, butterflies and bunnies. You especially loved using the cookie cutters, but also got into painting them.
Illuminated Egg Hunt.
This was hands down my favorite Easter activity we did. The pictures don’t do it justice but I took battery-operated mini lights (used for floral arrangements) and put them in fluorescent eggs and we had a hunt in the dark! This was not my idea of course but can’t remember whose it was. I tied this into FHE and how Christ leads the way for us. You two just LOVED this activity so much that we did it a zillion times. Lyla you would even take turns hiding them. Lottie loved putting the lights in her mouth as you can see I got a photo of. It looked so creepy in her mouth! Aside from that she loved finding them and you both would giggle in delight each time you found on. It was AWESOME!!!
Crayon Resist Egg
I always say this but I love when I set things out and you get right to whatever your interpretation of the activity is. You’re always spot on!
This time I wrote some things in crayon and then left it to you with food coloring and a spray bottle. You LOVED watching the colors spread across the egg and wanted to just spray it over and over again. When the crayon words appeared you said “look!” excitedly.
Cotton-Ball Bunnies
You are well aware of bunnies and thing they’re so cute. You always say “awe, a bunny, hop hop”. SO you loved glueing cotton balls to the plate when I told you it was kinda like a bunny. When we gave it eyes and ears you were overflowing with excitement. You couldn’t wait to show dad what you made.
Shaving Cream Egg
This activity involved dyed shaving cream. I just knew you’d love getting all dirty doing this one and boy was I right. You had more shaving cream on your body than on the egg. Looking good in your body paint babe!
Decorated Egg
Alas another activity with the gem sorter. This was when I first introduced feathers and it was love at first sight. You intricately used them on the egg. We also got little mini eggs that you glued on there…very cute
Marbled Egg
Tis was probably the tidiest painting we’ve ever done. You loved squishing the paint around in a plastic bag and the outcome was beautiful! You were so proud of the finished product.
Geode
How did I only get one picture of this process?! It was a month long one at least. We mixed all sorts of crazy things into the eggs shells (like borax and salt), dyed them..and waited. Everyone kept telling me I was crazy because for days it just looked like goop in a shell. But low and behold, they eventually crystalized into these beautiful Geodes! WE kept them on our counter for a least a month and Lyla you would ask to check up on them and then say “ohh pretty”.
