Lottie, I can’t believe you’re one my dear. How did that happen? Where did my little baby go? Where? In its place is a peaceful beautiful baby girl who I feel so lucky to be with. You remind me of the important things in this world, and of my savior’s love for me. You make the world bright. I love you. When it came time to celebrate this amazing milestone, I knew just what theme to do. It says it all in the title, because you are MY “very hungry caterpillar”. You love eating and can do it for days and days. You’re also as beautiful and majestic as a beautiful butterfly.
My Beauty
I saw the most perfect fabric at Ace one day and new I had to have someone make you a dress. A girl in my ward did it and I think it turned out perfect. You loved so cute!
The Décor & Food
Not that you cared Lottie, but I chose bright colors and lots of food because playing and eating are your two favorite things. We used Chinese Lanterns, balloons and tulle banners to make the place lively and fun just like you are. We used the book for inspiration and an excuse to have fruit. I found the best buttercream frosting online and so we made cream-filled cupcakes and had other treats that you love like cereal and goldfish crackers. We also filled a fruit tray full of fun snacks that were candy in fruit shapes.
The Play
Earlier in the day I set up these suitcases full of different surprises like balloons, fabric, stuffed animals, and pieces of fabric. I did this because you love opening and closing doors so I thought the suitcase lids would be so fun for you. Nope! LOL you really didn’t want anything to do with is during the day but that evening you played with it a little more after things died down. We also filled the sensory bin with colored rice because I know you LOVE that. You wanted to jump right in and get to digging around.
The Presents!
We had your bestie Reagan and the family there. They were so nice to bring you such great gifts! You LOVED opening the first gift but then lost interest. Don’t worry your sister helped you out
The Cake!
My neighbor is an amazing cake maker. She did such a great job making it! I think you were overwhelmed by the cake at first. I tried to show you it was cake under all that fancy but you still weren’t having it. You also had to be chock full of all the treats. You didn’t also want to be in your highchair so I let you sit on my lap and try it. WALA! You dug right in and had a great time. You even shared with your bestie and insisted on giving grandma a bite!
