My sweet Poohley, you’re 8 months old.  How did that happen?  Poohly is your newest term of endearment.  It’s a Russian nickname that means lovable chubs basically.  Olya calls her mom that and as soon as I head it, I knew it had to be your nickname.  My sweet round Poohley.  In all truthfulness, you’re hardly chubby (barely in the 14th percentile), but you have cute chubby cheeks, a double chin, and a nice chubby booty; all of which are so loveable.  You have the most beautiful little smile that shows your temperament, which is soft and generally chill.  I know that’s your temperament, even if it’s not what I’ve been seeing lately.  Oh man sweet pea,  you’ve been a little bit of a holy terror for…eh….the last 2 months.  I call it teething hell.  You got them all so quickly that I think you just really suffered, combine that with outgrowing the carseat you sleep in, and being old enough to have developed bad habits (from being spoiled/held all the time while teething) that really the last few months have been tough.  There’s days when you whine or cry all day long.  Christmas Day was one of those days.  And then you wake up anywhere from every 45 minutes to every 1.5 hours all night long.  Since I don’t have help most the time, it takes more of a toll on me and those migraines poppedup a lot more during these times.  It seemed like they’d cluster and I’d lose my vision for a few hours every day for about 3 days at a time.  Not so good.  But our bodies are amazing things and for the most part I’ve done quite well.  I don’t recall feeling tired too often, just being shorter tempered.  I’m happy to report that I think this is mostly behind us.  Around the end of December, you went back to waking every 3 hours which is completely doable and I think it’ll just keep getting better.  Honestly, I remember this phase with Lyla too.  I have to think the reflux  has something to do with it.  If I’m not careful, I get lots of helpful people suggesting to make you cry it out and get lots of judgments about why in the world I’m still waking up with an 8 month old!  But I feel like it’s that last big hill before the end of a marathon.  I’m confident you’ll go back to your good sleeping ways by the time you’re one.  I’m definitely comforted by the knowledge that I did everything I could for you during this time when I really think you were suffering.  That’s not to say I didn’t get frustrated!!!  Oh boy…3+ hours of screaming when I’ve had no sleep + taking care of 2 under 2 all alone 14 days at a time can create a cranky mama!  We’ve survived though.  There’s little moments of wonder and beauty everyday that make it all worth it.  Like in the still of the night when nursing you and you lift your little arm to rub my chest.  Or when you get soo excited when you see your big sis or encounter something new about your environment. Or when you do your sloppy little claps in such excitement.  You do this cutest little side head-cock when you see someone you know and love.  It’s kind of a shy flirty thing.  Adorable. I just love seeing you grow and evolve everyday even though it signals that passing of time which I always hate.  I love looking into your chocolately brown eyes and thinking your carry a bit of me.

`Like I mentioned, teething has been brutal.  On 12/22 you got two more teeth to make it 4 (two on top, two on bottom) and just a few weeks later, on 01/12, you got two more on top to make the grand total in 6 in just over a month!

`Breast feeding has been….interesting lately!  As much as I love the cuddle time, I’m ready to be done.  Because you treat it like a buffet that you whip away from like my nipple isn’t attached and because you’ve been biting!!!  Oh man I forgot about how bad that hurts.  I’m in intense fear every feeding.

`You kind of have some old man balding going one.  You make male pattern baldness look cute baby girl

`Have I mentioned that I love your juicy butt?!  It’s so cute.

`You have the cutest way of saying hello to people, especially your dad.  You reach your hand out to them, not to go to them, but just to say hi.  It’s so sweet.

`You can be such a cute smiley thing sometimes!  I love it.

`You re wrapping your head around sippy cups and I have to say I’m pretty impressed.  You’ve always wanted one when you see Lyla drinking her milk, so I finally got you some water and juice and the rest is history.

`I think I mentioned that you legit LOVE food.  It’s such a contrast from Lyla.  I can feed you ANYTHING.  You eat any kind of real food but NO thank you to the baby food.  You do dig on Gerber stuff like like wagon wheels  and veggie puffs

`Your fine motor skills are incredible.  You can feed yourself everything, even the tiniest bits of food. And you don’t want anyone to feed you!

`You’re super mommy mousey still!  It’s killer.  You cry instantly if I go out of your sight.  Luckily you do okay with our Nanny Emily.  Your thing is that you love to play, and want to be down and moving all the time, but you don’t want me to go anywhere!  You want me to sit and watch and never go anywhere away from you.

`We introduced you to swinging and you LOVED it!  I think you’re gonna be like Lyla and down for anything

`When we went to Aunt Shauna’s house you were SO infatuated by her cats!  You would follow them around everywhere they went.  You had no fear and would try to pull their hair and climb on them.  Good thing they’re nice!

`I think your favorite toys as of late is any and every door!  You just love swinging doors back and forth

You also enjoy pulling things out.  Your bottom drawer rarely keeps clothes in it and the wipe container is frequently emptied.  I thought I brilliantly came up with a solution by cutting strips of fabric and feeding them through a wipe container.  Pah!  You wanted nothing to do with it.  LOL

`You dance to music by bobbing your head.  It’s adorable

`Your hair is looking Auburn right now.  It’s beautiful

You’re still not one to be rocked to sleep.  I wish you would because I basically walk you to sleep every night.  I think I’ve made quite the path in your bedroom carpet.

Miss Lyla, my love.  You’re growing up so fast I can hardly believe it.  I don’t think a day goes by that I’m not in complete awe of you.  If it’s not a look on your beautiful face, it’s your perfect little curls shining in the sun, or a sweet little anecdote you share with me in your perfect Lyla-gibberish.  You are so beautiful it still catches me by surprise.  Your personality is as equally lovely.  I literally can’t get enough of it!  Every day I can’t wait to show you what we have planned for the day and to experience it all right along side of you.  I relish little sentences like “I wanna snuggle wif mama”, "slobbery kisses, saying or showing you something that elicits your animated little gasp and hearing your infectious squeal.  You’ve really always had the best temperament and zeal for life, which I am grateful for every day.  I never feel like we can’t do something because you’ll be naughty or won’t be in to it.  Man I am so lucky to have you.  My little bestie to spend the days with.  It’s so fun to chat with you.  As much as I love your evolution, I want you to stay little forever.  It makes my heart hurt to think that some day I won’t be the best thing in the world to you, that your curls might grow out, or that you could lose that belief that you can have and do anything.  Gosh time is cruel.  For now I’ll revel in you.

`You have learned the song Jingle Bells and can’t get enough of it!  LOL.  You will sing/scream if over and over until someone snaps and tells you to quit.  LOL  It’s so cute though, because you love it so.

`You are also really in to Snowmen right now.  Anytime you see one you get so excited and proclaim “no man!!”

`Like I said, you have a zeal for life.  All day you’re saying “wow! Look at that!” or “Look at me!”.

`You have started saying “you’re welcome mommy!” when I say thank you for doing something.  It melts me

`We have a joke that when you or Lottie are naughty we are gonna spank your bum bum.  So anytime Lottie does something you don’t like you playfully spank her bum bum.  It’s funny but hopefully people don’t think I beat you since you talk about it all the time :/

`Anytime you fall or get hurt you instantly say “I’m okay!”.  Guess you’ve gotten used to your helicopter mama asking!  When you’re doing something crazy like climbing up the entertainment center or scaling the counter, you also say “I be carepul”.  LOL  Good grief child

`You’ve grown into the sweetest Big Sis.  I’ve always tried not to make you responsible for her or anything but somehow you feel that way.  You let me know when she’s doing something wrong and also say things like “be carepul {careful} Lottie Lou.  You’ll also dig things out of Lottie’s mouth that don’t belong there.  Sometimes you’re a little TOO helpful but it’s okay Smile

`You’ve learned a lot of concepts recently (or maybe I’m noticing them more often!).  Like up and down and big and small.  Now any time some thing doesn’t fit or doesn’t work the way you want, you say “it’s too big!”.  LOL.  Adorable.  You’ve also learned and can identify a lot more animals.  You know many exotic animals like Panda Bear and Hipppo and pretty much all farm animals.  You have these giant zoo and jungle animals that you play with all the time in the sensory table.  You also know the shape circle and point it out to me all the time.  I’m so proud of all you’re learning!!!

`You still say P for F so fish are pish and it’s adorable

`You’re the best dancer.  Lately, you turn the music on your little piano and than shake your booty vigorously!

`You love our Christmas tree but kinda like to destroy it with what ever you can chuck at it.  LOL

`You’ve become a puzzle master!

`You just LOVE your little frog towel.  We always hold you up to the mirror after the bath and you say “ribit ribit”.  LOL SOO adorable

`Any kind of wand you find or stick you call it a “bopidy do” for bippity boppity boo (off or Cinderella).  It’s so cute.  I need to show you that movie!

`You’ve had a horrible regression with the oral phase lately!  It’s like you’ve become a 6 month old again and put everything in your mouth.  You’ve also gone back to chewing on things like my cell phone.  I was kind worried because your doc said you had all your teeth in, but when we went to the dentist he confirmed that you were in fact getting the last of your molars.  I feel bad now because I thought your mouth hurt but didn’t get you medicine because I didn’t think you were teething.  Sorry baby girl

`You’ve learned how to tip toe and do it all the time.  It’s so silly and cute

`You help me clean up now and it’s so fun and helpful.  You sing the clean-up song and are really good about it.  Hope it says that way!!!
